This Saturday, Nov. 12, our community will have the chance to attend the grand opening of the new SportsCare facility inside the Gus and Flora Kerasotes YMCA. From 9 a.m to 4 p.m., you can be one of the first to get an inside look at the new Y.
WICS NewsChannel 20 recently visited the facility to give viewers an inside look before the doors open. The video is embedded below. Among the featured areas:
A benign brain tumor was causing Caryn McLaughlin of Lincoln to have seizures and stumble. After it was removed, her left side was paralyzed from the shoulder down.
As soon as she was able, Caryn began warm-water therapy at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital – an option for patients with everything from arthritis to balance problems and from athletic injuries to post-surgical range-of-motion issues.
Caryn’s recovery took place in two hospitals and then three nursing homes. She’s been through occupational and physical therapy. Her two grandchildren – ages 3 and 2 – have inspired her to stay determined. But it was water that finally had the biggest impact on her healing.
A few months ago we called for patients of Memorial’s Emergency Department to write in with their stories, which would be published online at memorialerstories.com. With over 85 patients stories submitted, we’re grateful to share with you three of the these impactful stories – stories of encouragement, hope and recovery derived from great patient care. Look for these stories to air as TV commercials over the next several weeks.
